By late 2016, drivers coming to or leaving Santa Fe should be using a $19.8 million interchange at Interstate 25 and Cerrillos Road that will be the first of its kind in New Mexico.

The “diverging diamond interchange” (DDI) design, first developed in Europe and now being used across the U.S., is supposed to improve safety and traffic flow.
