Tesuque is a small community only 7 minutes out 285 going north or 10 minutes down a winding tree lined country road called Bishops Lodge. If you follow Bishops Lodge Road down you will notice Bishop’s Lodge Resort on the right. Bishop’s Lodge, the iconic 1920s ranch resort situated on 317 acres in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains. It is being reenvisioned as one of the top resorts in the nation — respecting the property’s rich history and original design while incorporating state-of-the-art luxury features throughout it’s accommodations, grounds and amenities.
Bishop’s Lodge will include 123 new and renovated guest rooms and suites, fine dinning and mush more. I just spoke with Rich Veruni who has been the managing director for as long as I can remember. He said the Lodge will re open in 2018. Can’t wait! If you would like to ride horses this is the place. The stables are open. They offer horseback trail riding as well as Equus, a horse-assisted personal and leadership development experience for individuals and organizations.. Continuing on down Bishops Lodge you may notice that Tesuque looks different from Santa Fe proper. Even though it is close in proximity to Santa Fe it is more green and lush.
The main part of the village is in a valley. You might want to grab lunch at the Tesuque Market. It has been there forever and is a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike. The menu is varied and there will something that you will like. I love their motto. “Tesuque Market, where down home is upscale” ..Perfect! There are many choices of terrain in Tesuque. Looking into the badlands is quite spectacular.
Here is a favorite property of mine in Tesuque. The home backs up to the Tesuque Creek and defines relaxing charm throughout. The home has been offered at $2.7M..I have more photos. If you would like more information please let me know.
On the north end of Bishops Lodge you will find The Four Seasons Rancho Encantado. Here it is tucked in mountains. It has everything that you would expect from a Four Seasons Hotel Some properties are really tucked in and very private. If you want seclusion with ambiance Tesuque may work for you. Tesuque is 7 square miles. Tesuque Pueblo is a member of the Eight Northern Pueblos, and the Pueblo people are from the Tewa ethnic group of Native Americans who speak the Tewa language.
