Santa Fe is known for its art. No question about that. Now from an abandoned bowling alley meet Meow Wolf.

Meow Wolf is a production company that creates immersive multimedia experiences that transport audiences of all ages into wondrous areas of storytelling. George R R Martin is the genius behind Meow Wolf. The following is a quote from the El Paso Times SANTA FE — “What happens when hundreds of artists take over an old bowling alley and put on a show? If they undertake their mission in one of the most creative cities on the planet — with the support of angels like “Game of Thrones” writer George R.R. Martin, who reportedly kicked in $3.8 million — the result can be a groundbreaking artistic sensation.”

Meow Wolf is something that defies description. It is a must see in Santa Fe. Here are a few attempts: NPR called it “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse on steroids.” The Los Angeles Times raved about “giant artwork that people can step inside … part haunted house and part jungle gym.” Ars Technica dubbed it “the amusement park for people who want a weirder Disneyland,” and the New York Times pronounced it “part commentary on what’s real and what’s not in an increasingly ‘virtual’ age, and part good old-fashioned mystery-solving.”
